Atlantis

Screenshot 2016-10-20 at 11.13.09 AM.png
Once the sun greeted a new day, I was Wide-eyed and wondering while I wait for others to waken. I thought to myself that the world was an oyster, that was still fresh. Underwater was clean as a whistle. I start to hear “rrrrrrrrrrrrr mm” from the motor boats from up above.  As slow as a snail I float up upon the water.
When I see the location of the boat , I see them dump a plastic pipe into the water to suck up everything  , and they had already started on using axe’s to shave the whole reef off. Watching them do this made me as scared as mouse from a cat , so I ran into town and hid in the underwater bakery. In that moment I thought I saw one of the coral’s turning brown but I didn’t really worry about that after still stressing on what the humans were doing here.
As I came out of the store , ‘’holy cheeseballs’’ I said as the tank was half way till empty and most of the sea creatures were hiding from them before they were taken from the sea. There were already sea creatures taken to the boat and thought this was the day of our death. I couldn’t really see who exactly was taken since that day I lost my glasses at my old soccer field I used to play at. When I saw everyone taken away I thought that this needed an end to it. I swam up sneaking against their boat , when an anchor was on top of my head about to drop without me noticing.  When it dropped I heard a whistling noise coming down from the top of me and when it was about 120 centimetres away it had already hit the ground before it even got me. After my death been nearly caused I ran far away knowing I had no way of saving atlantis. So I strided off to my old soccer field.
Sitting down alone I could hear the water been sucked and nearly empty , I sat there thinking that my life wasn’t even over I still had a few more years till my death. Why now? When I sat there I saw these glasses that looked like my old ones. I tried it on and there it was , it was mine. When I got it back , I knew what I had to do and never give up on the place where I live. So I went back up to the boat and there were words on it saying , this water is poisonous and there will be a big change to the sea creatures living in atlantis which is for them to move to a happier place. When I saw that , this was all just a misunderstanding.
But they were all actually right , that’s why carroll's all started to turn brown and why I couldn’t really see it because I lost my glasses. When I saw this I left myself go and floated off to my new home. Our new home was just right.

Digestive system

FIrst of all do you know what the digestive system is? Well here are some facts to let you know how the digestive system works.

What is the digestive system?

The digestive system is a group of organs working together to convert food into energy and basic nutrients to feed the entire body. Food passes through a long tube inside the body known as the alimentary canal or the gastrointestinal tract (GI tract).

How does the digestive system work?

Digestion works by moving food through the GI tract. Digestion begins in the mouth with chewing and ends in the small intestine. As food passes through the GI tract, it mixes with digestive juices, causing large molecules of food to break down into smaller molecules.

Why is the digestive system so important?

Digestion is important for breaking down food into nutrients, which the body uses for energy, growth, and cell repair. Food and drink must be changed into smaller molecules of nutrients before the blood absorbs them and carries them to cells throughout the body.

Valerie adams speech

Most of you may know my name, for use that don’t know my name is Valerie Adams. I am well known for being an olympian from New Zealand. I still train hard as an olympian, this year my goal is to bet my world record, in the field event of shot put.

During the olympics was tremendous because we’re able to train without any distractions. Being away from New Zealand definitely helps because there’s not much Olympic hype around here. Nobody knows who I am, there are no media things happening, I’m just focused on what I need to do, and that is to train. Anyways that enough about me for one day. Well, it was a privilege to tell yous all about my journey in the olympics and how it went. This wouldn’t have happened if your principal ( Mr Hendricks ) invited me to your wonderful school. Once again it was a amazing experience to speak in front of you's all.

My advise to you about becoming an amazing shot putter is to train hard, be able to actually lift the shot put and have the strength. Take your throwers to the state championship this year. Learn Proven, Successful strategies for developing champion shot putters.

Miracle in the sky

Salevasa - Miracle in the sky.

He stood there next to his mother, sheltered under a large black umbrella held by the tall woman. The mother and her son were soaked wet as they dragged themselves across the field.
They knew that something strange is happening. The rumble of thunder had been accompanied by a strange wind, almost a whooshing sound. The boy does not remember any time like this in his whole life.
They stared up at the remarkable view above them and wondered what on earth was happening. To their surprise, they saw a shoal of enormous fish swimming across the cloudy sky. The fishes appeared to be thousands, they were moving at a tremendous speed.
The mother and her son were feeling a bit amazed and worried at the same time. The reason is because they can not explain what and why there were fish in the sky. Furthermore, they were more worried than amazed because they could understand what is happening. Nevertheless, they continued on walking home in the terrible weather.
Hours and minutes later they finally got home. They had a warm shower, got changed, had a nice hot cup of milo before falling asleep while watching TV. Although they were sleeping, they were still thinking about what they have seen and realised it must have been a miracle but they were not sure who else has seen what they saw.

A day at the beach

A day At the beach.

As I walk along the beach, the sun gracefully lifted its head above the clouds, greeting the new day. While the golden sand pulls me in the ocean tickles my feet. The calm wind brushes my face, The palm trees and umbrellas are roofs, hiding people away from the sun. Meanwhile you can hear the waves crashing up against the sand sucking it in.The sunscreen is like a shield against the rays of the sun. The sandals are guards who make sure my feet don't get burned by the toasted sand. The ice cream being sold sings to people who are burnt out by the sun and hungry for something cold.

Writing assessment

As the sun gracefully lifted its head above the clouds, greeting the new day. I thought “ It be a wonderful day to look over everything “ So I went over to the edge of this massive as rock, I grabbed my binoculars and glanced at the breathtaking view.

Suddenly I saw some bad news heading towards my way. It was like I was seeing my cats fighting but Wait it gets worse. Guess what?? It was a group of men travelling with guns and all sorts of weapons like, metal bats, spears, knifes and more. From my point of view I thought it was joke and thought to myself that I was seeing things. So I decided to gently wipe my eyes and the lens of the binoculars and I still saw them.

Furthermore, I tiptoed slowly towards my stuff and headed down the rock. Until I saw them getting closer and closer but lucky I had spotted a cave where I could hide and will never find me. As I continue ahead to the cave I heard a BANG! BANG! In the sky. Then I started to walk faster, it wasn’t to much to go until I reach my destination. After a while I will say about 45 minutes . I couldn’t really see anything so I used my torch. All I saw was spiders , centipedes and a whole lot of cave insects.

Minutes later I walked outside to see if the men were there and I did, they had captured 3 innocent people ready to kill them. So I grabbed out my phone and called for the police secretly. As soon as the police arrived the men went back in there car and drove off so there was a police chase. Sooner or later they would’ve captured them and had escorted the 3 people back home including me.  The sheriff also thank me for calling because those men were the number one suspects. After a long day I was happy I survived and glad that I made the right decision to call the police. If I hadn’t call the police I think I would have been a prisoner by those men.

Evacuation if needed in a emergency.

Have a getaway bag ready for everyone in your family with warm clothes, a bottle of water, snacks, copies of important documents and photo ID. Remember any medications you might need and keep your first aid kit, torch, radio and batteries somewhere you can grab them in a hurry.

Decide where you will go and make sure everyone in your family knows, in case you’re not all together at the same time. Your evacuation place will probably be with friends or family, so make sure they know your plans.

If you live in a tsunami zone, make sure your evacuation place is outside of the zone check with your council for zone maps.

If you have to leave home, take your pets with you. If it’s not safe for you, it’s not safe for them. Make sure your evacuation place will take your pets or have the contact details for kennels, catteries and pet friendly motels. Only if you decide it’s the best decision.

Persuasive writing 2016

Cell phones are the number one thing that people should not bring to school. Many students have cell phones these days. You would often see teenagers talking on their cell phones or just as often texting. It has become a part of the everyday life and a part of society.  Many teenagers and pre teenagers get cell phones as early as possible, sometimes younger than 12. So here are my reasons why we should not bring our cell phones to school.

Cell phones should not be at school because, of the distractions from the ringtones that you get from a text message or even a phone call. It will be very rude if your phone rings during an exam or even if the teacher is talking, because first of all you are not paying attention and second of all you will lose your concentration on the exam.

We shouldn’t have cell phones in class because if we were to lose our cell phones, it wouldn’t be the teacher's responsibility because it was our fault on, bringing it to school in the first place. Even though you try and ring it, It won't help because you will need like someone in all the rooms that you remember you were in, so it should stay home.

Cell phones are not to be at school because , you might say,“ I need to call my family, something came up and I have to.” What’s the point of bringing your phone when you can just ask Ms Mary in the reception , and ask for the reception’s phone. It’s not that hard.

So to sum it all up, There is an absolute 90% of children in the class that will not pay attention to the teacher ,because the children will more likely want to do their own things on the cellphones. So I recommend you to leave your cellphones at home because it might get stolen. SO LEAVE IT AT HOME!!!!

Gutter board

Gutter board is a game to be played outside in the sun. Some people would prefer to play gutter board instead of other sports, because it is a quite peaceful but fun activity to play. Gutter board has been around for many years and even younger kids still enjoy it now in days.

Firstly gutter board requires a board that would have to be approximately 60cm and shaped as a triangular prism, and a small bouncy ball that will rebound off the board. Place the board in a open space, on concrete and on each flat side there has to be 4 evenly spread out lines, each 1 meter apart on each side.

Next, stand behind the line that is closest to the board and rebound it off the board 15 times then move to the next line and throw 10 times then, 5 then 3. Throwing the ball while stepping over the line is a rule breaker. More players are allowed to play but you will need extra boards and extra bouncy balls.

At first when you start to play the game it might be a little frustrating and hard but when you keep on playing it wont be that hard. The main idea for this game is to have fun so enjoy.

All about me

Screenshot 2016-02-19 at 12.02.37 PM.png                         VASA

Malo E Lelei my name is Salevasa but everyone calls me Vasa. I am gonna tell you one thing or another about myself. Firstly I’m a Tongan/Samoan girl and I’m 12 years of age. I have 2 sisters and 1 brother. Theirs are Nevaeh, Epenesa and Matthew.

I’m a year 8 student at Glen Innes school, I’m good at maths and reading. For maths I’m fast at answering some equations but only at some points but the main one I get help from is Pareata. Pareata is really smart I would prefer him as the smartest. Therefore reading is my next favourite subject at School, it really helps me understand the text and then when you answer the questions I know it straight away. I like to come to school because I learn new things about maths and reading, also because my friends.

I like to listen music like Reggae, Hip hop and R&B it makes me calm when I’m angry. Also I like it when a beat comes on unexpectedly and that just makes me happy. When my friends let me listen to different songs I will always go and download it on my netbook.

In the future I would like to be a rugby player or if not I would probably want to be apart of a basketball team. They are important to me because they are my favourite sport to play. Plus I really enjoy playing basketball because you would need to shoot the ball into the hoop and for rugby you can tackle and score tries.

Half teaspoon of salt
1 cup yogurt
2-3 tablespoon of lemon juice
2 cups self raising flour

Then you will next wisk it together . When you see that it is all mixed together then you can stop. Then you want to put half a teaspoon of salt. Then you put 1 cup of yogurt into the mixture. Then you put 2 - 3 tablespoons of lemon juice. You want to make sure that you get no seeds in you lemon juice and if you do then just take it out. Then next you want to mix it together again. Then you want to put in 2 cups of self raising flour. Then you mix it again. Then you put it in the cupcake holder then into the tray. You must first put it on 180 degrees for a 20 minutes.

Descriptive writing

Just as I heard the bell ring , I already had in my head that we would be making Lemon yogurt cupcake. As I sat on my desk I could see the ingredients sitting on the table waiting to be cooked. Just as my teacher reached into my head saying for the class to go to the hall , I was excited in many ways that I wanted to be doing the cooking straight away. As I was walking through the hall I could see them setting the tables and others putting out the stuff to make the cupcakes.

As I walked on the stage I sat down and waited . So we started . Just as Mrs Lamas reached her ingredients we writed down all the ingredients . So firstly we needed lemon, 2 eggs , 1 ¼, half a teaspoon of salt, a cup of janola, 2 - 3 tablespoons of lemon juice, 1 cup of yogurt and 2 cups of self raising flours. So first Mrs Lamas reached  her hand out to a bowl and then she Grated the reed of a lemon into a bowl. Next she poured 1 ¼ of sugar into the mixture. Then she cracked two eggs into the bowl. After that she poured 1 cup of janola oil into the mixture then whisked it all together. After that she puted half of a teaspoon of salt. It smelt like I was in heaven that I really wanted to eat it right now. Just as she put the salt in she poured 1 cup of yogurt into the mixture as well as 2 -3 tablespoons of lemon juice. To me it smelt mostly like lemon like really really lemony . Mrs lammas then placed the cupcakes into the oven to cook.

In conclusion when the cupcakes were ready . I already could smell the flavor goddess of vanilla washed around my tongue. It smelt so scrumptious I could stuff it in my face if it wasn’t too hot. Anyways I did get the chance to taste my scrumptious cupcake and it was m,m, mmmmm.
